JOB & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Oak Brook Polo Club, Chicago’s first and oldest polo club, is in the process of hiring part-time season positions and volunteers for their 2023 season. The Club's 2023 Season will feature ten (10) polo events on select Sunday’s throughout the summer. Below is the Club’s current event schedule:

 

  • Sunday, June 25th

  • Sunday, July 16th

  • Sunday, July 23rd

  • Sunday, July 30th

  • Sunday, August 13th

  • Sunday, August 20th

  • Sunday, August 27th

  • Sunday, September 10th

  • Sunday, September 17th

  • Sunday, September 24th

Events feature teams from around the world and nearby rival polo clubs from late June through September at Oak Brook’s polo grounds located at 700 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523 of Polo Dr., just east of the Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club and south of Butler National Golf Club’s clubhouse.

 

Scheduled events begin at 1:00, with season staff arriving at least 3-5 hours before the gates open to the public. Events end at 5:00 – 5:30 PM, with season staff present for breakdown until 7:00-7:30 PM.  

 

Volunteers are un-paid for individuals who are interested offering their free time, labor, and expertise to support our events. Volunteers are only required to work for the duration of the event from 1:00-5:00 PM or the time from which the volunteer can offer.

We are also need of staff to help with event setup on Saturday afternoons between 3-4 hours.

 

Each staff member and volunteer will receive a complimentary OBPC branded t-shirt or polo to be worn during events.

PART-TIME SEASONAL POSITIONS:

 

TICKET MANAGERS

Number of Available Positions:    4-6 People

Oak Brook Polo Club is seeking candidates with ticket or retail management and sales experience for part-time, weekend employment supporting the Club’s ticket sales and spectator check-in areas.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Customer assistance, ticket sales, cash management and will check-in services

  • Staff will report to Club’s Managing Director or Hospitality Manager

Qualifications:

  • Retail and/or ticket sales experience

  • Outgoing, friendly, helpful, and professional disposition

  • Committed and punctual

  • Proficient with or knowledge of ticket check-in technology

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • Ability to be your feet for long period of time.

Compensation:

  • Minimum $18 per hour or fixed amount per event based on experience

Hours & Availability:

  • Typical hours on each scheduled Sunday, 10:00 – 7:00 PM. Candidates must be available for each of the ten (10) scheduled events.

  • Saturday setup support also available

 

 

HOSPITALITY MANAGERS:

Number of Positions:                1-2 People

Oak Brook Polo Club is seeking candidates with hostess or hospitality management experience for part-time, weekend employment supporting the Club’s group and sponsor hospitality clients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Hospitality setup and teardown, customer assistance and hostess services

  • Staff will report to Club’s Hospitality Manager

Qualifications:

  • Hospitality and/or hostess experience

  • Outgoing, friendly, helpful, and professional disposition

  • Committed and punctual

  • Proficient with or knowledge of ticket check-in technology

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Compensation:

  • Minimum $18 per hour or fixed amount per event based on experience

Hours & Availability:

  • Typical hours on each scheduled Sunday, 10:00 – 7:00 PM. Candidates must be available for all ten (10) scheduled event dates.

  • Saturday setup support also available

 

 

TAILGATE | OPERATIONS & PARKING MANAGERS:

Number of Positions:                4-6 People

Oak Brook Polo Club is seeking candidates with great hospitality and organizational skills to help manage the Polo Club’s operations tailgating and parking areas on the east and west sidelines.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Traffic and parking coordination, customer assistance and hospitality services

  • Staff will report to Managing Director or Operations Manager

Qualifications:

  • Organizational skills and hospitality experiences

  • Outgoing, friendly, helpful, and professional disposition

  • Committed and punctual

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time.

Compensation:

  • Minimum $18 per hour or fixed amount per event based on experience

Hours & Availability:

  • Typical hours on each scheduled Sunday, 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Candidates must be available for all ten (10) scheduled event dates.

  • Must also work on Satudary's between 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

 

SEASONAL VOLUNTEERS

This season, Oak Brook Polo Club will welcome interested volunteers to support Management and Seasonal Staff. Volunteers are non-paid positions who freely offer their time, labor, and expertise during the duration of scheduled and ancillary OBPC events. 

 

Volunteers are primarily needed in the following areas:

 

  • Hospitality & Concierge Support – Welcoming guests, escorting to reserved tables and tents, management support, etc.

 

  • Ticketing & Merchandise Support – Welcoming guests, distributing event information (e.g. maps and magazines), management support, etc.

 

  • Event Program Support – Extension of event program activities that may require additional support for on-field activities (e.g. car shows and divot stomp), contests, awards ceremonies, etc.

 

Volunteers are not required to work full days and only for the duration of the event from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. We request that volunteers arrive 30 minutes prior to each schedule event.
